Shepherd Presence - Provide spiritual covering, prayer, and masculine presence in the building. Tasks may include walking through or around the building, making eye contact with youth, etc.

Requirement: Godly Man/Male, Age 40-120;

Minimum time commitment: 5 minutes, 1x/month (min one semester)

 

Facility Maintainers -Assist in maintaining the exterior grounds. Services needed include:

Handymen - Make repairs on building as needed.

Lawncare providers/Landscapers - Maintain the exterior grounds such as cutting and edging grass, weed eating, mulching/bagging leaves, pick up sticks, manage trees, powerwash, etc.

Gardeners - Establish and/or maintain flower, vegetable, fruit gardens on site.

Housekeepers - Maintain or improve the cleanliness of the facility’s interior.

Interior Decorators - Provide seasonal decor to maintain home-like feel w/in the building (may include bulletin board design).

Requirements: Age 13-120; applicable skills and abilities.

Minimum time commitment: Varies

 

Center Monitor(s) - Be present at/around the building to observe and ensure safe, appropriate operations and positive interactions. Tasks may include, but do not require, smiling at or listening to visitors, assisting youth as they manage check-in, prompting young people to “walk, don’t run” or to throw their trash away/clean up behind themselves, etc. Center Monitor may also check in on study Hall and/or Teen Room in the absence of a Study Hall or Teen Room Monitor.

Requirements: Age 24-119;

Minimum time commitment: 3hrs, 1x/month (min one semester)

 

Library Monitor(s) - Be present in the resource library. Assist patrons as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of materials. Check-out materials to patrons.

Requirement: Age 13-120;

Minimum time commitment: 3hrs, 1x/month (min one semester)

 

Study Hall Monitor - Be present in the classroom as youth study. Provide assistance to youth as needed.

Requirements: Age 18-120;

Minimum time commitment: 3hrs, 1x/month (min one semester)

 

Teen Room Monitor - Be present in the teen room. Ensure safe and appropriate interactions among youth.

Requirements: Age 18-120;

Minimum time commitment: 3hrs, 1x/month (min one semester)

Activity Facilitator - Plans or implements a plan for a single activity for children, youth or parents, depending on personal interests and abilities.

Requirements: Age 14-120;

Minimum time commitment: 3hrs, 1x 

 

Subject Matter Expert (SME) - SMEs share their knowledge about their personal area of expertise. This is not limited to traditional “school subjects”--core four: Math, English, Social Studies, Science. Instead, SMEs offer insight from work experience, special skills or hobbies such as business, fitness and nutrition, tradework, home economics, fine or performing arts, technology, etc. from a biblical perspective. SMEs are not expected to know or directly connect their subject to the core four. Family School leadership will do this.

Requirements: Subject matter expertise in any area.

Minimum Time commitment: 1hr/wk OR 4hrs/mo (min one month)

 

Classroom Aid/Facilitator Support - Primary task is to be present in the classroom in case the lead facilitator needs to temporarily leave the area. Additional support may include ensuring safe and appropriate interactions, providing personal perspective and wisdom, maintaining order and organization in the classroom, simple administrative tasks, or meeting miscellaneous needs.

Requirements: Age 18-120; maturity.

Minimum time commitment: 2hrs (1x/semester)

 

Learning Facilitators - Supervise classroom while students engage in group learning activities. Youth will be provided with learning/lesson plans and the resources to accomplish them, such as books, videos, other materials. The Learning Facilitator supervises and assists or may guide youth as they go through the lesson. The Learning Facilitator may choose to create or teach a lesson, but that is a bonus and not a requirement.

Requirements: Age 18-120; patience and maturity.

Minimum time commitment: 1.5hrs/wk OR 6hrs/mo (min one semester)

 

Classroom Teachers - Plan and coordinate learning activities, provide academic instruction, maintain academic oversight for youth in conjunction with parents. Communicate and partner with parents on the curriculum established for the young person(max caseload 5 youth age 13+). Report to ECHO Family School leadership. Lessons, materials, training, and other needs will be supplied by ECHO Family School.

Requirement: Age 24-120; patience and maturity. (No degree or teaching experience required!)

Minimum time commitment: 5hrs/wk (minimum one school year)
